What is Unity?
Unity is a positive, practical and progressive approach to Spiritual growth rooted in the teachings of Jesus and the power of affirmative prayer and positive thinking.
At Unity Church of Sun Lakes, we honor the universal truths in all religions and help people discover and live their spiritual potential and purpose. We are an open-minded, accepting spiritual community that honors all loving paths to God.
What We Believe –
We believe that God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live, move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind.
We believe we connect with the power of God through meditation and prayer and each of us is a co-creator of our world through the power of our consciousness.
We believe in the power of Affirmative Prayer to reveal the wholeness of our true Divine Nature. As a divine creation we live from the foundation of knowing within ourselves that our prayers have already been answered.
We recognize Jesus as a Master Teacher of Universal Truth and a Way-Shower for humanity. We believe the term ‘Christ’ to mean the Divinity in each of us and collectively for humankind. We aspire to manifest Christ consciousness in our lives through loving actions. We see each individual as having the essential, intrinsic nature of the eternal expression of God. Each soul is innately good and our purpose is to demonstrate our goodness, embrace our uniqueness, and awaken to our Divine Nature.
We believe in the oneness of the human family and the ‘unity within diversity’ that reflects God’s immense creation. We believe the kingdom of heaven on earth is not a place, but a state of consciousness; we create our own heaven and hell by the thoughts and actions we choose. We are here to set a positive example and be a role model for others. We are here to make the world a better place.
Our Teachings –
Affirming that each individual is a unique expression of God we are created with Sacred Worth. As we live our lives daily from this awareness we transform our lives and our world.
At Unity we emphasize the universal truth of the creative power of thought. We know that thoughts held in mind produce their own kind; and what you focus on increases. We believe that we actualize a more fulfilling and abundant life when we practice life affirming thoughts and words.
Our Five Basic Spiritual Principles Are –
- God is the Source and Creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and always present everywhere.
- We are all spiritual beings created in God’s image. The Spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.
- We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.
- There is an unlimited power in Affirmative Prayer, which we believe increases our awareness of God and creates a positive attitude, mindset and life.
- The knowledge of these principles alone is not enough. We must live them.
Unity Church of Sun Lakes Mission & Vision Statement –
Unity Church of Sun Lakes is a Spiritual Center of love and light, teaching and supporting one another in transforming our lives by living the Truths taught by Jesus Christ and other master teachers.
